Hello

One of my players spotted the sling on the character sheet and chose it as their character's personal weapon.

Thing is I can't find any mention of slings in the rules - only mentions-in-passing during character generation and on the character sheet.

Do they simply work like bows; Brawn + 6 damage, that sort of thing?
Or do they function more like whips or staffs somehow - nasty enough but less likely to kill you outright with a shot through the heart or what-have-you?

I don't know why I just said Brawn +6, BTW.
I meant "+6 instead of Brawn", obviously...

Sorry about the delay in replying, I'll be back soon.

So, slings. In narrative terms, they're a lot like the bow in the Crescent Land - a hunting tool that's effective in fighting, but not yet specialized into an organized tactic or design. In this setting, you won't find a squad of coordinated slingers with ammo belts, effectively an artillery unit, loosing in unison in order to set up the other unit's cavalry charge. Instead, it's a one-on-one jet-propelled rock.

Which is pretty nasty in certain terms. When I was ten, my friend and I were barraged by some local redneck teens with wrist-rockets. We came home injured and bloody, and frankly, could have been killed. In the game, if an outdoorsman with a sling puts one between your eyes, that's not

The special effects and specific injuries are different, but in rules terms, using them like arrows isn't too far off. I think I might favor +3 instead of +6, to reflect armor being more effective against them. Don't treat that as an author ruling, I'd have to think about it a bit more.

Thanks, Ron, I'll give that a go when it comes up.
