Title: RPGNow: Why or why not?
Post by: ethan_greer on April 29, 2004, 05:04:49 PM
Poking around RPGNow, I've noticed that some Forge folks sell pdf downloads from there, while others don't.

This is a request for end-user info about the service from those who do use it, and a request for reasons not to use it from those who don't.

For a start, this old thread should help: http://www.indie-rpgs.com/viewtopic.php?t=2776

Good god - I forgot to search before posting.  I'll go sit in the corner...

Thanks for the link, Matt. In the meantime, anyone got more current data?

Hrm.  I was hoping for a bit more input.

Specifically:

Clinton sells Donjon (plus Donjon Pack B1) and Paladin from both RPGNow and his own website (//www.anvilwerks.com).  Clinton, how's this working for you? What have you learned about the service that made you decide to use it, in contrast to your views expressed in the earlier thread linked above?

Philip Reed (//www.philipjreed.com) used to hang out here; I don't know if he has been lately, but he sells exclusively through RPGNow. Phil, if you're around, what made you decide to sell exclusively (or nearly) through RPGNow? How's that working out for you?

Ron Edwards and Matt Gwinn eschew RPGNow altogether and sells PDFs exclusively through their own websites (//www.adept-press.com and //www.errantknightgames.com respectively). Ron, Matt what made you decide not to use RPGNow?

And of course, info from anyone else participating or not in RPGNow would be most welcome.
