I'm not sure if this topic has been broched as doing a search ont he terms pulls up numerous off topic posts but I have a suggestion, and that is a spell checker.
Another sight which uses similar code has a spell check button which pops up another window with the spell check features in place and you can change your post to accomodate one's bad spellign habits. I at least use the feature regularly, I don't know if anyonw else would.
It's probably just a code mod plug-in.
But, I thought I'd raise the suggestion in case it hadn't been thought about before.

There are lots of spellchecking tools that you, a user, can take advantage of. This takes a load off the server and the administrators, and makes your posts easier and more pleasant to read.
As far as I can tell, it's a poster's responsibility to be sure that he is making himself understood, not the site's responsibility to police his typing.
A very easy solution would be to type your text in a word processor and then copy and post when you are done. This can prevents all sorts of problems as there is a backup to the post and there is a spell check as well.

Perhaps, but that does not mean the site can't add a tool that would help with this. But it's more a question of cost and space needed on the server or however that works. Clinton might be able to tell us more about how practicle it would be to add a spellchecker to the forum.
That said, most of the mistakes I tend to make are the sort of things that spellcheckers simply do not catch. Namely, homonyms and, worse, forgetting a negative.

Spellcheckers aren't any help for this. So ultimately it does come down to the poster to be responsible for their ownposts
thanks Jack for summing it up for me. Basically I used to jump back and forth between Word Processor and Interenet Client but if keeping several windows open at a time on my PC is daunting on my machine (it's very old). I happened to join a site that uses a built in spell checker and it seemed like a very nice service, I thought I'd put it on the chopping block.
If it is a large server drain, or even a medium server drain I understand the rejection of the idea, but regardless it was a nice service and I thought the people at the Forge might be interested if they hadn't seen or thought about it before.
So to wit, I leave it in the hands of the sys admins.
