they are dead right, then they can ignore pain, but should they still have chock?

Im just having problems with thinking on how the damage system in TRoS can effect undeads like zombies and skeletons.
they don't bleed and such.

should undead have someking of "pain=dead threshold"?
say when a zombie has gotten 20 pain then it dies becourse its all choped up or what?

No Pain - No Shock.

The undead can only be hacked up.

Although, I would rule that a decapitation puts them down in one though.

No need to make fighting them complicated - just hack away. And zombie stats are in the rulebook if I remember correctly.

Of Beasts and Men has stats for undead.. though they're referred to as Walking Dead in there.

There is no shock, no bloodloss.. But there is Pain. I believe pain is halved. It does not reflect actual pain so much as the inability for the undead body to function properly when it's been hacked into.

Also, thrusts do absolutely nothing.

Here's a bit on the ones from OBAM.  Shock and pain isn't all about physical sensation, just most of it.  And what happens to an undead really depends on the undead you're going for, or what zombie from what movie, etc.  But this bit from OBAM should cover most walking dead.

"Because their physical forms are quite dead, they feel no pain and never bleed (shock and pain modifiers from cutting and bludgeoning attacks are all reduced to 1/3, representing the physical damage caused but not the agony of a wound; make no blood loss rolls).
Piercing attacks can pin a member of the walking dead, but never cause the right kind of actual structural damage to put one out of commission (no shock, pain, or BL from puncturing attacks; roll a contest of ST with andy walking dead you've successfuly stuck to keep them pinned, TN=13 - your WP).  Beyond this, they are tireless and will follow prey forever, unless bound to a certain area or task."

Poor Andy. He was a nice guy before he died.

Apart from poor Andy, I never understood this rule. Why is the contest easier for the undead if I have a high WP?

Hi guys,

Thrusts do nothing?

What about shanking your undead foe to the wall or the ground with a spear, thereby giviing your friend enough time to take the machete to its head?

:P

I just watch the movie "Vampires vs. Zombies" and aside from being downright awful (and not even in a normal, funny "god this movie is bad" sort of way) it does not have any pinning of zombies to a wall with a spear

Now since I know a movie of this caliber would never lie I'm convinced your aforementioned tactic would not work in a realistic fashion ;-)

Sounds like that rule pretty well covers pinning them with a spear to me.
WP comes into play when you're manhandling rotting human corpses.  Ever even been around a rotting human that wasn't even moving?  Or even a gut pile from some other animal for instance?  It's natural reflex to vomit.  And in any world where that's not a regular occurrence (non-D&D worlds) animated corpses attacking you are likely to horrify anyone.
Thrusts also work when they break bones (crippling) or depending on your zombies, a thrust through it's weak spot could kill it.

I don't doubt that. But it is a *contest* with TN 13 - my WP. Presumably for both contestants. Why does me having a high WP make it easier for the zombie?

Dunno bout you, but I'd never presume your WP affected the zombies TN.

Me neither. The rule is just funnily written. I'd just use TN 6 for the zombie.
