Title: What forum to use for...
Post by: Moah on June 01, 2004, 12:40:59 PM
Hi,

I'd like to know what forum to use to "update" (ie tweak significantly) a game? I saw the indie game forum had specific warning against these threads, so I wonder to know if there's a place at this board for them.

Thanks,

Hi Moah,

By "a game," you mean an existing published game, right? If so, then you're all set to post in RPG Theory.

By tweaking an already-existing game, you are clearly critiquing how useful it is for a particular purpose. You might not have thought about it that way before, but that's what you're doing.

So the best thing to do is to consider just exactly what you hope to change in the experience of playing this game, by the tweaks you have in mind. Then compose a post which explains what the original text said, and what your tweak does, and why you think that would be important during play.

Even better, if you tweaked it already and have already played with the modification, then you are all set for a great Actual Play post, in which you can compare the experience of play with and without the tweak.

Thanks for asking about this, because you can potentially add a great deal to the discussions here with posts like this, and I look forward to what you'll post.

Best,
Ron
