Title: Forge Night Out in Indy
Post by: Paul's Girl on July 19, 2004, 09:57:42 PM
Hey everyone,

I just spent a few days in Indy for a conference for work and discovered a fantastic place for a Forge night out, Fountain Square. Its only a mile away from the convention center and has two restaurants and Duckpin Bowling.

www.fountainsquareindy.com

There is a 50s style diner (I had a marshmellow milkshake!)and a cafe with casual dining. The duckping bowling is played on a regulation lane with smaller balls and pins. For $25 an hour including shoes, 6 people can play about one game. Each game is played with three tries, since it is harder then standard bowling. I asked the attendent and reservations can be made a day or so in advance without problem. I think this would be a nice place to go since its just far enough from downtown that it won't be swamped with people like most places downtown, and its something new.

What do you think?

Sounds like fun to me! We did the 50s diner routine in Milwaukee a couple years back -- it was great fun. Do you have a specific night in mind? We can always decide at the con.

I know that no one is making dinner plans yet, we might be able to walk in and bowl (if people are interested) But it might be nice not have to deal with long lines and crowds downtown at least once. Just throwing the idea out there to talk about at the con.

Thanks.

Do they dance and sing like at Ed Debevick's? Well, even if not, I think I can be there.

Um, no. And if you start to dance and sing, then you can't be there.

Its pretty much a regular diner, no 'themes' or fake decor, but the food is pretty good and you can get libations!  The menu is on the website, to the diner and the cafe next door.

As long as I don't have to walk that mile of distance, sounds good to me...
