Good work, there's always a bunch of people here hankering to read your stuff! There's all kinds of connections with what Chris Lehrich or Jonathan Walton are doing, for example, or even with Vincent Baker's notions. Should be an interesting read, especially as the Nordic stuff is considered the "other" serious tradition of rpg theory.
The fact that the Turku school essentially says that Sim gaming is the only valid form of RPGing is a bit too much to take.
Turku is even more pretentious than the Forge.

Yeah, so I figured. The Manifesto is a product of its time, and if people missed getting offended by it in 2000 or 2001, they might just as well skip it now. But I do recommend reading the other articles. Some of them ("Larpers do it ekstatikoi" and "Give me Jesus or give me Death!") are now available for a wider audience for the first time.

After considering it some, Ron, I'm not sure it was not a constructive comment, at least that a constructive element is not contained therein.
While most of the long-time Forge members may be familiar with the Turku philosophy and the various pitfalls ascribed to it, relative newcomers to the boards may not be so fortunate as to know this history or what it entails.
It is wise, then, to provide some history for the topic, rather than the thread existing solely as an historical artifact to inform "those in the know" (which is something a simple link-to cannot be in as dynamic an environment as an internet forum).
Quite honestly, I recall no specific threads discussing the Turku school (locally), so I'm at a loss to provide some context for the link-to above and the articles at the other end. Anyone have any specific Turku discussion links from the Forge?
