Title: Cookie Clearing
Post by: M. J. Young on March 18, 2005, 09:21:45 PM
It is sometimes the case that someone's problem with The Forge relates to cookies.

Just recently I was on some similar forum and noticed in passing a link/button that indicated clicking it would clear "all cookies set by this forum".

That struck me as potentially useful. After all, I don't want to clear all my cookies--it would mess up logins on so many other sites, some of which I might never figure out how to fix. Being able to identify and target those cookies that are related to this site would be very helpful in such situations.

Is that an option that might be added?

That would be neat.

One thing to point out to folks who don't want to dump all their cookies is that browsers usually store them in a way that's not too hard to find the cookie (for example, from Internet Explorer, you can click on Tools-Internet Options. In the Temporary Internet Files section of the General tab, there's a Settings button, that brings up another window, which has a View Files button, look for a file named Cookie:{user}@www.indie-rpgs.com/ and you can then delete that, hmm, I also see Cookie:{user}@indie-rpgs.com/).
