I was thinking about one of my favorite movies today, namely May (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0303361/)
Fantastic film, I recommend it to any horror / creepy / sorcererish movie enthusiast.
The link pretty much tells what the movie is about, but just in case:

Okay, anyway, I realized that the entire movie maps perfectly to the standard rituals:
Contact: gruesomely collecting the parts from their various "donors"
Summoning: painstakingly and lovingly assembling the parts into the homonculous
Binding: a gift born of excruciating and permanent personal sacrifice
I'm sure more analogs to other mechanics and ideas can be found, but I'd have to watch the movie again to do a proper job of it. Anyone else feel me on this one?
D.
I haven't seen this flick ...
(but now that you've posted about it)
... yet.
Best,
Ron
I have seen the movie, and at the time I didn't really think of it as a Sorcerer movie although I can see where you get the ritual idea. I would add that May's first demon is the doll. Dolls in movies creep me out.

Oh, yeah. Definitely. And the glass... that's not just creepy, it's fucking creepy. The show and tell scene in the school room literally had me cringing.
This is good? Really? I always pass by it when I am in the rental store. I'll have to check it out the next time that I stop in.
It's more than good, really.
I can see the inspiration for Sorcerer in there, but then again, everything comes back to Sorcerer eventually.

It is. Really one of my favorite movies.
And yes, it often seems that way, doesn't it... hmmm....
