Hello, Joshua.
I was happy to pick up UtB at Dreamation (and meet you there), but sad when I removed the shrinkwrap and the cards were loose. So I made a box out of cardstock. I have the PDF still, if anyone else is interested in a bit of craft-knife and glue action.
Ciao,
Alexander <unrelated> Newman
Hawt.
Can you post a link?
Surely (http://www.ajnewman.net/~ajn/UtB-box.pdf). No idea why I didn't in the first place.
That is awesome.
Thanks.
I can take UtB out of that freaking tin it is currently in.
Done and done.
That, that looks nice. Way nice. Mad props to Alexander.
Alexander! That's awesome!
If you'd like, I can send you a vector image of the logo so you can print a cleaner image.
So cool. I'm stickying this thread.
Sure, send it over (it's AJN at AJNewman dot net). The .png comes out OK on an inkjet, but a vector graphic would come out cleaner all round.
The tabs on the side of the box need tweaking (and I need to go get some glue), but the proportions work. Glad you like it!
AP Report:
The box looks nice, and all the cards and booklet fit in just about perfectly.
I made an arbitrary decision about which short end to glue closed, but looking at it again I don't think it matters.
Suggestions for the next revision: Choose one short end to be closed and the other to be open. Put a "glue here" note on tabs on the closed end. On the other, put a semicircular thumbnotch so its easier to open, and cut the short flaps at an angle so they don't get in the way of the long ones.
Rockin'.
Ooh. The thumbnotch. I knew I'd forgotten something. And you're right. The flaps are too long.
Must get glue.
Thanks for the pattern! I made the box and it came out great.
Buuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuut... The cards don't fit. They are wider than the box. And I swear, I swear on my dice that I folded the box right on the lines. By chance, do I have a different version of the game? Meaning, were there different sized cards made?
Lisa: You might check your printing parameters in PDF. Often the PDF program will scale a page to fit your printer ... in my case, it generally scales down to 94% of the original, unless I tell it specifically not to do so.
So far, all Under the Bed games have been the same size. Next revision will be a different size, but for now, it's probably Acrobat scaling your PDF as Tony said.

*smacks myself in the forehead* I knew that. I really, really did.
Yup it fits now. I too glued one end of the box and cut the edges in a bit so that it's easier to grab the tab to fold out and slide the cards out.
It looks great! Thanks for the link.
So, Illustrator had a brainfart and killed my master for the box, which is an opportunity for an easier-to-glue and smarter box design that will be forthcoming, not a reason to curse roundly at the craptitude of certain software. A new box (with colour logo) will be coming soon, for values of soon that take full account of my indolence.
Fear my obsessions!
A new box design is available (http://www.ajnewman.net/rpgs/misc/UtB-box.pdf)
This is actually a lot easier than it looks to construct, sturdier, and generally much cooler. So if you're in the mood for a 20 minute easy-peasy papercraft project, the Under the bed box experience is for you.
Enjoy!

I love that you used the "infected" background from the GenCon backing card!
I've just received my UtB (new edition) and was delighted to see that there was a make-your-own box. Then I read the new cards were smaller and thought they might just rattle around. I needn't have worried. With the new, smaller cards I can fit eight dice, 4x6 small wooden tockens and the cards.
Perfect!
Awesome!
They'll also fit in a card collecting box now, since they're a standard size.
For dice, by the way, I carry around a little pile of 8mm d8s. They can all fit in your pocket with room for a sandwich!
Can we get a box to fit exactly the new cards, pretty please?
