Title: Artistic Help
Post by: N.R.Knutzen on June 27, 2006, 01:12:06 AM
I am not even sure how to go about this.  I have two games getting close to the final stages of production and I am self publishing them.  I would like to add a good amount of black and white artwork to the games.  The problem I have is funding.  Are any artists that would donate the use of their work while maintaining all rights to it other then me having the right to use it freely on my site and within the games themselves with you names attached to all the work thru out the book or come up with a way that you will receive a commission as the games sell?  I have means of paying up front till the games take off.  If there is anyone that can help me?

I would even be willing to consider using public domain artwork or free artwork off the web if you can point me to fantasy and modern sites.

Thank you all very much

www.clipart.com (http://www.clipart.com) is an amazingly affordable resource with tons of free images and fonts. You can even get a very short subscription for peanuts and just do a quick search-and-download mission to get what you need.

Hi

The concept of my page is to give exactly that kind of assistance. I can convert the illustrations to black/and white for you if you find anything apropriate, if not, we can talk about having some made. Look in on my page and see if  you find anything you like. There are a 114 to choose from at the moment. :)

Not to threadjack, as this could be helpful to everyone, esp. the OP:
I note on the site you have the notation this isn't for commercial publications. What would your terms be for allowing them in commercial publications?

That depends on who you are and what it's for. I work for several large editorials, and have a price for that. When it comes to a webpage that is commercial, but a smaller initiative, that's a different price. Write me about your project, and tell me what it's about and what you would need. That doesn't cost anything at all.
