Title: Capes online play, a possible environment?

Hey all:

For your reference, the following two websites seem like a pretty darn good way to organize an online Capes game:

and perhaps even better

since it actually includes a chat feature.

VYEW looks perfect. It would probably work way better than imaginationcubed since you can chat, draw geometric shapes, and type text into the draw window. It looks like the way to go until someone creates a Capes play environment Java applet. ;)

You can do geometric shapes in the imagination cubed one as well, its just a bit hidden as to how to find it.  However, I agree that the vyew product seems superior.

Do any of those include VOIP, or would that be done on the side thru Skype and whatnot?  I ask because as far as I can see, a Skype conference is limited to 4 people, and Teamspeak and Ventrillo require that you either run or pay for a server.

I answered my own question: Skype can be used to do conference calls of more than 4 or 5 people by using highspeedconferencing.com - it is a bit cumersome, but entirely possible to host a group of VOIP participants greater than skype normally allows.  One can even add people calling by normal phone to the call, though normal long distance rates may apply as it's a 712 area code going in that way as opposed to using skype.

Also, Ventrillo servers are both free and easy to run.  In fact, I'm running one right now.

Sadly, those of us on Linux are unable to connect to your Ventrillo servers.  :(

People have played Capes on Foundry MUSH, which is a text-only environment with some tools for dice. You can connect to Foundry via telnet or (preferably) a special MUSH client like SimpleMU (Windows), MUSHclient (Windows), TinyFugue (Linux/UNIX), Atlantis (Mac), or Cantrip (Mac). Foundry's address is legendary.org port 5000.

Crap, that is the wrong port. It'll take you to a fabulous game but it isn't Foundry MUSH.

You want legendary.org port 7777.
