I've searched on Boost Stamina and I still don't think I get it. When does the damage from over-boosting take effect?

If it's immediate, then the penalties from the damage will immediately cancel out the bonus from the Boost, right? If it's not immediate, then when does it happen?

Immediately after the action in question is completed, whether successful or unsuccessful. Pretty easy, actually.
