Title: Some Rules Questions about NPCs
Post by: Willow on October 01, 2006, 07:01:45 AM
1)  The text mentions recurring NPCs, which I think is totally awesome.  Do they ever get to heal impairment or wounds?

2)  Can I spend extra strife for them to 'gain xp?'

3)  Are they limited to the same island, or can I keep bringing them up again and again for free until the heroes kill them?

1) Yep. They get to heal. If they have a scene to rest, heal 4 wounds and/or impairment boxes. That's not really an official rule, but that's how I do it.

2) Yes.

3) Bring them in as much as you want. Recurring NPCs are fun.

Regarding NPC healing... John, didn't you suggest that the GM should spend strife counters to heal NPCs on a 1:1 basis (heal 1 wound or impairment for 1 strife)?

Heh. Yeah, I probably said that. I actually like that better. Consider that my real answer. :-)

I think 1:4 works better, since 1 Strife buys 1 Divine Favor, which is 4 points of healing.

Well, would you look at that. It's almost like I know what I'm doing. :-)

1 Divine Favour is worth 4 points of healing? I'm not following you there.
Are you thinking of Fate: 1 Fate buys 4 Impairments or ignores 1 wound?

You're right, I was thinking of Fate, which bad guys don't get.

I ended up using 1:1 tonight, and it seemed pretty good.  1:4 would have been crazy.
