Title: Dragonmeet 2006
Post by: Graham W on November 27, 2006, 09:10:47 AM
Dragonmeet is this Saturday, 2nd December, in Kensington Town Hall.

The schedule isn't on the website yet, but there's a preliminary version on the Yahoo group. Here are some quick picks (bearing in mind that times might change in the final schedule):

Let me know if I've forgotten anything. I understand the Collective Endeavour, a collection of UK-based small publishers, will be doing a load of stuff too, but I'm sure Malcolm will be along to talk about that shortly.

Also, Matt planned bringing Covenant to Dragonmeet, which is a nice little game. It was one of our favorite sells at Spiel Essen, not the least because Matt is such a nice guy.

Thanks for the kind words. Cheque's in the post ;)

Yep, I'll be there as part of the Collective Endeavour (http://www.collective-endeavour.com) presence. It's there to promote play, design and publishing from a UK angle. We'll  be running 15 minute demos of our own, and others', games throughout the day (Covenant, Contenders, Cold City, Best Friends, Dead of Night, and any other Indie games we know well enough to demo). There's also a slowly forming plan for some pickup games and a trip down the pub, mooch on over to our forums to discover more.

We've also got some IPR promo stuff from Brennan to spread the word and Angus from Leisure Games has a nice big stock of Indie titles and will be just next door to us.

I'll be there as part of the Collective Endeavour, demoing Dead of Night and anything else I can be co-opted into running. Hoping to run a longer game or two if time permits.

I'll be there as well and hope to jump into as many indie games as I can throughout the day.  I'm also hoping to meet the Collective as the project that they have going looks like, if handled correctly, it could do a lot of good for the UK indie scene.

Thanks for the LARP-kudos!

I'll also be running demos of Esoterrorist, the not indie at all game from Robin Laws. If I have any spare time, I might even try to get a few of CE's demos, Contenders, Dead of Night and Covenant being the ones I haven't yet played.

I will happily oblige Steve! And you can return the favour and run me a game of Esoterrorists. I think we're sharing a stall with Pelgrane, so that shouldn't be too difficult!

This will be the first convention for the combined efforts of the Collective Endeavour, so it's an exciting time. We'll be doing our best to promote not only UK produced small-press games, but the small-press/indie scene in general. We'll be selling our own products from the stand as well as running demos, but we'll also be supporting Indie Press revolution, as Brennan has kindly sent a banner and flyers for us to use. We're all pretty familiar with a wide rage of games, so we can effectively pitch almost anything people ask about. We can then direct people to Leisure Games (who have a stand right next to ours) who have a full range of indie stuff on sale.

Very much looking forward to it.

Cheers
Malcolm

OK, back home now. The Con was very successful for us.

Malc has the exact sales numbers, but we took in the equivalent of $1800 from the Collective Endeavour booth in that one day. A great result for all of us, and I think we'll also see a pick-up of sales after the con too.

The booth looked great and there was a really sweet buzz, and enthused gamers gleefully buying product and playng games.

It was a damn fine con and I had a blast.  I posted a report on my LJ (http://nuclear-powered.livejournal.com/32217.html) if anyone is interested.  Oh and to Gregor:  I don't hate you because you were to the left of me ;o) .  I'm still the prettiest though.
