Title: Copyright resources / UK
Post by: zoom on January 17, 2007, 09:42:02 AM
Hi there

I'm new to this forum, but I have been playing RPG's for the last 15 years. I have built 3 gaming systems in that time and was very interested in what I would need to do to publish one of them.

Im from the UK and we adhere to international law in that all intellectual property is automatically copyrighted on creation. The main thing that is suggested to us here, is to Post your work to yourself with a "special delivery" service that requires you to date and stamp the envelope.

You then keep the envelope un-opened and in the case of a infringment of copyright you simple hand the envelope in as evidence to show when and who created the work. Sort of like a official witness.

You can go further with your copyright but this would require you to register your work with a company who can charge you based on the length of your registration.

The only other requirement is to ensure you have the copyright symbol and the date and details on the work.

Cheers..... from manchester

Hi there,

Here's a useful link about that issue: Poor man's copyright (http://www.snopes.com/legal/postmark.asp).

Best, Ron
