Title: Playing with kids?
Post by: David Coulter on February 11, 2008, 01:14:06 AM
So our nine-year-old has decided she'd like to try playing an RPG, and I immediately thought of PTA, as it's nice and rules-light. Has anyone out there tried playing it with one or more children, and do you have any advice?

Read the Moose in the CIty AP if you haven't -- I think it would be great fun to create a kids' show with an actual kid.

I think a nine-year old is probably old enough to understand issues.

Yeah, I think issues should be pretty easy for her to grasp. I think the game actually might be a really good tool for teaching her to evaluate stories critically. I've been thinking about using Nickelodeon's "Avatar" series as a model for her--she's very into it right now, and its characters boil down to PTA terms pretty well.
