Title: Google Books and partnership
Post by: Graham W on November 22, 2008, 01:03:23 PM
Has anyone considered partnering with Google Books (https://books.google.com/partner/), to make limited previews of their books available?

I'd welcome comments from anyone who's considered it; or anyone who, having looked at the website, has an informed opinion about whether it would be worth their while as a publisher. (Don't turn this into a vague opinion-poll).

I know Keith put up a limited preview of Conspiracy of Shadows 1st Edition (http://books.google.com/books?id=Rof82CO29eYC&printsec=frontcover&dq=conspiracy+of+shadows). He'd be able to say how useful he found it.

I haven't considered this, but am also interested if anybody has experience with it. Seems to me that the benefits are pretty marginal as compared to having a preview on your own site. But then, I don't much believe in walk-in customers anyway in the Internet era; few people are going to want your stuff based on Google searches solely.
