Title: Player/contributor locator
Post by: Jared A. Sorensen on July 19, 2002, 03:47:44 PM
I think I've asked for a Player Locator function before.

But check this out:

It would be very cool if there were fields in user profiles that gave info. as to that user's "strengths" as far as indie RPGs are concerned. So you could do a search on "layout" or "art" or "statistical analysis" (ahem, Mike) and get a bunch of names back of possible contributors to your project.

As long as we're spending Clinton's free time for him ...

I like the idea of two Locators:

1) RPG design resource people - artists, layout, editing, PDF formatting, HTML/website design, etc, etc

2) Just plain play finders, like the Sorcerer player finder - the more general the better - I hate the idea of specifying by game

Best,
Ron

Hey,

The querying/reporting functionality discussed here could facilitate Forgites connecting with others local to them. And additional fields could be added to the user profile to facilitate Jared's desire to exploit people's strengths on behalf of his projects.

(Seriously though, even without this functionality, a "profiling" style thread about "strengths" might be worth doing.)

Surely the resource library could shoulder some of 1) at least. Maybe add some more categories in the existing publishing resources section. [edit] As many of these are not location specific, but play is.

Shitfire. I end up promising to do things in terms of development and then completely forgetting. People, don't let me forget this one.

Ok - here's what I'd be most likely to do: make a second page for your "profile." I'm not going to edit the default one for the forums, but I could add a secondary, optional page where you'd enter:
