Hyrum Savage (from OtherWorld Creations) has denied the report. He said that he talked to Wick today. As for _when_ he talked to John, we'll have to wait and see.
You can check on the thread at http://forum.rpg.net/showthread.php?s=&threadid=10879&perpage=20&pagenumber=1 for the latest input. As I say there, I hope it's someones' idea of a sick, sick joke - the CHP traffic site lists no fatal accident on the 110 near LA today. Still not definite, though.
I know there are some sick folks in RPG-land, but damn.
It does look as though someone has indeed hacked the Wicked Press site (which was down the last time I checked it).
I jumped out of my seat when I first read this, though. Is this a random thing? Or is this in response to something he's said online? Maybe it's because I haven't read much of the Gaming Outpost or RPG.net forums at all, but I don't recall seeing anything that John's ever said or done that would cause people to be this malicious.
I for one am a fan of everything he's written, and am fervently hoping for more soon.
It's looking increasingly like a hoax. It's very wierd, tho. The initial announcment was very heartfelt. If it's a hoax, they put a disturbing amount of emotion and effort into it.
