Title: Questions on maneuvers and more
Post by: allahlav on October 01, 2002, 02:24:55 AM
Picked up the game at the insistence of a friend last week - awesome!  Now I need to stop reading it and start studying, but before i do, some questions...

Can a defender choose to attack someone who performs a stop short or a toss maneuver.  Toss says the defender can dodge, while stop short gives no defence.  Are these absolutely the only options available?  If so, why?

If a defender attacks during a beat and acts after the beat, do they lose the dice immediately (assuming the beat was successful) or in the next phase?

What are the stats for an Amring Glove?

Ain't it though? :)

I don't see why not.  However, unless you buy initiative, then you'll have to wait until your opponent's attack is over, which could deplete your combat pool and leave you defenceless, and uh... offenceless (cool... I made a word... somebody call Webster's).

Immediately, IMO.  Keep in mind that a successful beat renders the opponent's weapon unusuable in the next exhange.  In the event of a beat against someone attacking... I'd apply it to the current exchange.  But that's just me.  Others might have differing methods.  How does everyone else handle this?

Good question.  I have to admit, I'm not even sure what an arming glove actually is.  Anyone care to divulge lore on that puppy?

An arming glove is a chain-and-leather gauntlet used to protect the off-hand in C&T and rapier styles that grab a lot and/or use the off hand for deflections and the like. The stats have been described several times on this site, though I don't have a reference handy. Complete and official info will, of course, be in TFOB.
