Title: Help wanted in design of Medieval Fantasy RPG
Post by: Erekon on January 30, 2003, 01:21:11 AM
I've played several different RPGs, experimenting. I've decided that I want the game to have features from the following games:
Diablo
Everquest
Dungeons and Dragons

I need help designing basically everything. Classes, races, spells, the world etc.

Im open for any suggestions. If you would like to join the development team of this game send a reply message with your email address or email me at

Erekon,

Assuming you're going to read this, you should read the sticky announcement and such at the top of the various forums; they take them pretty seriously around here, which I think is not the case at every such board.  In general, I believe this forum is supposed to be focused on game development in a fairly cohesive stage; what happens is that you write up and post (or link to) what you've got, and ask for comments and critique.  If you're at the beginning of the design process, you might want to hold off.

In the meantime, read some of the articles on game design posted here; the local gurus have several, and they might give (1) some advice, and (2) some idea of whether you want suggestions from the Forge.

Good luck on your game.

I agree.  While it isn't the most active forum here, I'd repost it in "Connections".

Here's a thread (http://www.indie-rpgs.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1896&highlight=) that might help.  It details a method I've used to good effect in the past.

Good luck with your game.

Hey, hey, I'm moving on up in the world!

Besides, poor Ron deserves a rest every now and then. :-)

I'll chime in, too.

My game, The Riddle of Steel, isn't a fantasy heartbreaker...but if I had read that article before publishing, I don't think I would have gone through with it. So hold your game up to real scrutiny on that end, and make sure that what you're doing is different. Don't assume that it is or isn't.

But then the world would have been deprived of a great game, Jake.
