I haven't been able to find an illustration of this in any of my books on period weapons. I'm extremely hesitant to include a weapon for which I've no reliable mental image, much less an illustration.

I was under the impression that the histroical term for 'war pick' or 'military pick' was simply another tern for a beaked war hammer, lucern hammer, or bec de corbin.

Any input?

It is an Indian War Pick.

That's a good picture, but it looks like a war hammer to me.

I guess what I'm saying is, war hammer = war pick?

I don't think so...warhammers had a heavier blunt end for doing their business...but here is a place that makes warhammers:

I think one difference is the size of the shaft perhaps. Just some thoughts.

Here's a war hamer head from my favorite dealer. I'm going to buy it when I find a suitable handle (or they start offering it mounted, which they are leaning towards).

Is that a 'pick' or a hammer'?

It is warhammer.

Historically Warhammers had a spike on one side and hammer on the other...a multipurpose weapon so to speak. Whereas picks really were just massive spikes (like that Indian one I posted).

How about this for a war pick. It's a drawing, but I think there's no mistaking it for a warhammer. As to how effective it would be, who knows...

Sorry I mis-read what you said.

I don't have an image, but if I recall correctly the warpick was just a lighter pick axe that had been sharpened while the handle was lengthened and reinforced with metal bands. It was originally a peasant's weapon, but when the nobility saw how well it dealt with mail, they adopted the design for their own uses in the form of the mounted or horseman's pick.
