Title: GAMA?
Post by: Luke on October 28, 2003, 06:13:31 AM
Ron (or another wise old soul), can you enlighten us about the perils, pleasures, benefits and detriments of the much touted GAMA trade show?

The early registration deadline has passed, but is it at all worth it to try to put together a Forge booth for the show?

I am very curious, as I have a couple of people pressuring me to go. I confess I don't see the merit in it for me.

enlighten me!

Hi Luke,

No one liked this thread, but maybe the links I provided in it will help.

thank you for the linkage!
I do remember now James' thread from last year. I must have blocked it from my memory.

links within links.

hrm, very tough decision.
con devoted solely to promotion. i can handle that. promoting solely to distro and retailers, I am unsure of.
I have a sneaking suspicion that I would get a lot of "great game (read: but I'm not going to order it."

Still, I might be more inclined to go if I was part of a "presence" rather than a toothpick adrift at sea.

Are any Forgies planning on displaying wares there? If so,who are you "going with?"

I am tossing around the idea of going, depending on how complete Robot's & Rapiers is by then and what format I decide to release it in.  Do keep me posted as to your plans.  I think GAMA is at the same time as a good regional con in St Louis is next year, so I'll have to work that conflict out somehow.

I'm going, but I'm still trying the "distro-to-retailer" model.

Hopefully, this year I won't be sick as a dog.

I learned a lot last time.

Any recommendations on "good retailers" to try to keep an eye out for from the booth?
