It's been a while, but I have some RoS questions about Initiative. Actually more pertaining to group initiative. I like the way RoS handles Initiative once the combatants have locked up, but I've had problems with the system at the start of a confrontation, such as who engages before whom, can I get my bow shot off before the Troll charges in, etc, or when during a combat more foes show up. Has this been covered before at all in detail? Can anyone offer any suggestions.

If you're trying to decide if a shot can get off before someone reaches the archer, use the derived move stat. I use that stat as the number of yards you can sprint in a round, or the number of feet you can walk in a round. Note, when archery is involved, a round is fixed at 2 seconds in my games.
There's a thread somewhere around here where I justified that with some math, but I can't be bothered typing it all back in :-)
