Title: Revised Revised Edition of Conspiracy of Shadows?
Post by: Luke on July 16, 2005, 06:27:02 PM
Hi Keith,

I was reading your new version of Conspiracy of Shadows. You know, the small digest-sized one. It's red, with a circular, abstract logo on the cover. You know the one, I'm sure.

And I noticed in the Influences you omitted  The Burning Wheel (http://www.key20.com/catalog/images/osc_ghq1500_ca.jpg) from the list.

So when are you going to come out with a Revised Revised Edition?

sincerely,
-Luke

Keith, speaking about revised revised edition of CoS, I would really appreciate my name spelled right on page 44!

Luke,

Burning Wheel gets my personal statement of influence on me game.  When a muther fucker picks it up, I got up in his grill and yell, "Dude!  What the fuck you buying here?  Go get fucking Burning Wheel man!  I totally ripped it off!"

Seriously though.  If your ass creates an internet war for me, I'll fucking draw you on the cover of my next game and dedicate the fucker to you!

Keith, I was merely trying to be helpful and point out a small omission from your otherwise noteworthy text! Well, if this is how the designers of Conspiracy of Shadows treat their fans, I don't think I want anything further to do with that game or anything else Bob Goat publishes. I'm completely agnostic about Conspiracy of Spectres now. I won't be participating any further in this discussion. Or any others. Nor will I be able to recommend the game to my gaming group. We just have different priorities.

Luke,

I almost pissed myself.  Conspiracy of Spectres.  Priceless.

You do realize, because I am PoD, when I my current stock runs out you are getting a special dedication and comments on how you felt slighted I felt the need to stop the tears...

Dear Keith,

From what I just read I can clearly see that You have some serious personality issues. Why are you swearing like that all the time? I asked politely, and you answered with hatred, please next time you post give me a yes/no answer. (To help you with that here are two possible options: "Hey Droz, sorry for misspelling your name it will not happen again" or "No, according to my polish dictionary your name is spelled correctly".

Mr Senkowski,

I promised myself I wouldn't respond further to this thread, but your above statement  has been bothering me since I read it and I felt I must comment. To wit: Don't you think you should be more concerned with other, more glaring, omissions in the text -- such as rules for damage from fire or falling -- rather than such trivial details as bibliographic entries. Frankly, your game, Delta Conspiracy, is incomplete without such rules -- further damaging any endorsement I could ever conceive of giving.

Mr. Crane,

The terminal velocity rules will be included in the Conspiracy of Delta Green by way of the X-Files Companion.  Said book will be out at GenCon.  My appologies for forgeting such an important aspect of the game.  I also plan on including lifepaths and a Grief Mechanic in said book.

I'm shocked, Mr Senkowsky, shocked. You've handily illustrated one of the greatest drawbacks of the entire so-called "indie-rpg" movement: All of these games are the same -- they are born of the same incestuous design process as illustrated on this very site. Borrowing wholsesale from Burning Wheel is at once utterly predictable and wholly unnecessary, but it does fit the type of so-called innovation found here.

Yes, you've only affirmed my belief. I won't be purchasing the new edition of Revised Convocation of Shadows. Nor will I be purchasing anything from Luke Crane or Radek Drozdalski if this is the type of incestuous relationship your companies have.

The Conspiracy Burner will be done once I figure out how to stretch it into two books, one for creating the conspiracy and one for the rules on using them...

Dear Mr. Senkowski (at this point you can clearly see, that i've checked your last name with my polish dictionary, and spelled it correctly, unlike some other people posting in this thread)

But back to the matter, are you planning on releasing said suppelement in PDF format or rather as a printed one? But this point I have to say that I'm very curious about Your approach on the matter of velocity rules.

Quote from: drozdalBu this point I have to say that I'm very curious about Your approach on the matter of velocity rules.

As one of the privileged playtesters of said rules, I can attest they're very innovative. Each round of falling is divided into three phases. Before the round, each player secretly checks off whether he will Scream, Flail, or Fall (do nothing.) Then, all physics are resolved simultaneously. It really captures the chaos of falling like no other RPG before. It's a brilliant mechanic, and one I am assured is wholely original.

I haven't read this rule, and certainly haven't played it, but I plan to villify you in all the forums I can. Clearly, if someone were stupid enough to use this rule, they'd be falling "blind." That's incredibly unrealistic, and frankly I'm shocked that even dimwits like you could write such a broken rule.

Dear Sir,

I am planning on releasing said supplement as an html document to appease Mike Holmes, since he likes them so much better than PDFs.

It should be noted that the velocity rules take into account terminal velocity.  Also, the choice to fall is directly proportionate to an individuals grief rating, which subtracts from any hesitation brought on by a Steel test when choosing to leap into the air...

Actually it is like Argentina but different.  You see I exhaustively researched the history of South America and found the dynamic of Argentinian history perfect for my terminal velocity system, which was designed to be like The Shadow of Last Week, but better.
