Title: Polaris Actual Play
Post by: Ben Lehman on July 18, 2005, 11:24:17 AM
Here is a thread to link to all accounts of Actual Play for Polaris.  Once Favorites gets running again, I'll have a whole bunch of threads to link here.  Feel free to add your own.

Two threads in Dutch:

One experimental session that was a bit chaotic. (http://www.mandragon.be/rpgs/blund/9252.topic#new)
Brilliant first session of a longer game. (http://www.mandragon.be/rpgs/blund/9304.topic#new) (I expect to post the next sessions in the same topic.)

For the truly hard-core, Paul Tevis has put up his group's entire Polaris play, around 13 hours of ice, betrayal, and tragedy.  Find them here (http://havegameswilltravel.libsyn.com/index.php?post_id=42877#).

An AP in french (http://www.silentdrift.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=386). Same session report in english (http://www.indie-rpgs.com/forum/index.php?topic=20003.0), where we discuss issues of including the big NPCs in the character's cosmos and how to place any character in the cosmos at all.

I wrote a presentation (http://www.silentdrift.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=372) (in french) of the game as well. It's not really a review though, that may come later this summer.

Two player Polaris from Tokyo.

Note it is long, (at the 20, 000 character limit), and still not complete. Awaiting permission before posting the rest.

Fall of Tallstar - but only if he murders all ... of ...them.

We got together for our fourth session. We had a really good time I think and are hip deep, and are really starting to explore what you can do with the game, or at least we had some great gaming. We also discussed quite a bit some issues around the table, comfort levels, where to take the game, how we play it, what we can do to make it better to fit the desires of some of the other folks around the table.

Many thanks to Matthew and Jason for being such open to discuss and good guys to play with. You can find the actual play here in PDF format at our Groups website. This is still my favorite game we are playing right now.

A french AP targeted on the use of Key Phrases: Patricide (http://www.silentdrift.net/forum/viewtopic.php?p=4915#4915)

The same scene was used as a presentation (http://www.pandapirate.net/casus/viewtopic.php?t=8526) on a big french forum, but they've got automatic thread pruning activated, so I've no idea how long it'll last.

Wow - what a helluva game. I just heard about Polaris while hanging out at DexCon last month. I'll have to jump in a game at GenCon. I'll have to see if there's an open slot for people new to the system and the game.

Hey, Tom:

The best place to do that would be to come by Games on Demand on friday afternoon, or stop by the Forge/IPR booth whenever. I don't know if anyone is "running" the game at the con, but I'm happy to set something up so we can play it.

Tom, if you need a 3rd or 4th player, I'm always up for a game of Polaris.

I shouldn't be too hard to find, I'll be the 6'5" guy with the big purple top hat. Also, my number is posted on the con forum somewhere.

Here is a AP recording done by one of our players (Mel White). Was not sure he was going to post it. This game s from our weekly indi-game night session we play at the Compleat Strat in Falls Church, VA. I was me (who has played before), Mel who was familiar with the concept, and two players who had never heard of it before we sat down that evening. We had a great time. and learned alot.
