Title: New things in 2006
Post by: Emily Care on January 02, 2006, 10:49:12 AM
Hello all,

Happy New Year!

Things have been brewing at Black & Green, and are going into full swing in the New Year.  Thanks to the incomparable Andy K (http://www.tenra-rpg.com) & Orie (http://www.kneko.com/), the full web site has been launched at http://www.blackgreengames.com (http://www.blackgreengames.com).  You can find updated character sheets to download on the Breaking the Ice (http://www.blackgreengames.com/bti.shtml) page.  In color and also black & white. I want to thank Mo T., Clinton N. and Victor G. for their awesome quotes. You frickin' rock!  I'll share part of what Victor wrote:

QuoteThe great beauty of the game is, if I can say it poetically, that it is an ode to our vulnerability.

This time no knights with big swords or sorcerers summoning demons to solve their problems: but people without special gifts faced with a task they could not possibly accomplish with power and force; who must expose themselves, who must dare to be vulnerable, to make mistakes, and yet, who try, in spite of or rather because of their human weaknesses, their shame and their fear, to together find a solution and a deliverance.

Thank you. That is about the height, right there. I am humbled to be able to have been part of contributing to that experience of gaming, and I owe it completely to this place & these people: the Forge.

In other news, I will have the initial (real) playtest draft of city of the moon available later this week! I anticipate Shooting the Moon being available in the very near future as well. Anyone's who's interested in getting a copy of either game email me at blackgreengames@yahoo.com, or post here.

best,
Emily

The website looks great, Emily. I'm really looking forward to more Black & Green games.

Emily, you've misspelled my name on your site. It ends on an -s, not on a -g. :)

I am interested in your games - on what timescale do you want to have them playtested?

Also, the third of the review links is incorrect, it points to the fourth article.

Hi Andrew. Many thanks!  And Victor, good calls. I'll get those fixed.

I've begun alpha testing Shooting the Moon & plan to get that finished by the Spring/Summer.  City of the moon is at the beginning of it's design arc.  And man, it needs serious setting materials to be written. I'll have to put on my research hat. Maybe re-read Genji.  But the initial system write up is complete. I just need to see how it flows & what it might need added/adjusted or what cows have to be offed in the process. : )

all the best,
Emily

New version of City of the Moon (http://www-unix.oit.umass.edu/~ecboss/CotM.pdf) available now.  Check it out.

I also wrote a bit about it on my blog here (http://crowtracks.blogspot.com/2006/01/pretty-as-playtest.html).
