Title: Test game questions
Post by: sourflower on February 24, 2006, 05:11:40 PM
I just received WGP and love reading it and can't wait to play it.
I'm wanting to play a test game with my wife before playing with my normal group so I can get the rules down.
Any advice on playing WGP with a single player?

A single player? I'll admit that I haven't done a great deal of one-on-one playtesting, but here's my first thoughts on the matter:

1) For the villian, definitely think "ArchNemesis." Y'know, Batman & the Joker, Daredevil & the Kingpin. Make. It. Personal.

2) Definitely use the "Oversize Annual" pacing as described on page 113. With no other heroes, there's no one else to "take one for the team." Everytime the hero loses in order to move the Story Arc forward, it's going to hurt.

3) Don't forget Stakes. Setting Stakes is vital. Check out this thread (http://www.indie-rpgs.com/forum/index.php?topic=18794) for some advice on setting good Stakes.

I hope you get a chance to post about the game, either here or in the Actual Play forum. (http://www.indie-rpgs.com/forum/index.php?board=14.0)
