Title: Hero v Hero
Post by: Darren Hill on August 22, 2006, 08:21:29 AM
The rules for contests explicitly cover things like Hero v NPC (Name + Ability) or Hero v Obstacle (Strife), but don't say anything about Hero v Hero.
In a Hero v Hero contest, does the Antagonist spend Strife to create a communal difficulty (as in games like, say PTA), or is it just left to the players rolls? If it is the latter, how is Glory determined for the victor?

The game opens with a system for these. I would add Strife if I felt the need.

Hmm, yes, achievements do strongly support the notion that the GM doesn't need to use Strife.
What about glory awards? Is it just 1 point for being highest? Or 1 for each person on the winning side that does win, and 1 extra for the highest? Or is that highest bonus based on the opposition dice as with the strife table?

The reward would be 1 Glory for winning. If there are multiple winners for some reason, then they each get 1 Glory. There's no extra award for highest. That only applies for rolls against the Antagonist.

The idea is that there is some Glory to be had in besting the other heroes directly, but the most Glory is found in outperforming the other heroes against opponents.
