Title: the handicrafts of evil
Post by: Paul Czege on August 01, 2007, 04:27:02 PM
So after Snyder leaked the very cool cover (http://www.indie-rpgs.com/forum/index.php?topic=24451.0) he designed for his 44 ashcan, I thought I'd follow through with a peek at what I'm doing for the Acts of Evil ashcan.

The books are tape bound, 94 pages, with matte black cardstock covers. And I'm splatter painting them, and embossing the titling by hand.

Here's a scan of my prototype (http://www.halfmeme.com/images/Acts-of-Evil-cover-prototype.png).

That's two colors of green acrylic paint, done as a fairly controlled splatter via a secret method (yep, loading paint to a toothbrush and scraping the bristles with a popsicle stick), and pewter colored embossing.

That scan doesn't do it justice. Here are a couple of detail shots (http://www.halfmeme.com/images/Acts-of-Evil-cover-prototype-detail.png).

The color accuracy isn't perfect on these either. You can really get lost in the green on the actual thing if you're not careful.

Both of those are awesome, guys.

Does the symbol on AoE correspond to any actual one, or is it a custom made amalgamation of existing symbols?
