Title: A Forum Like the Forge, yet for Independent Board and Card Game Design
Post by: Will Whatley on September 09, 2009, 06:34:08 PM
(I'm unsure if this fits in with the purpose of this forum. OTOH it seems more relevant than Site Discussion.)

I do (much) more design with board, card, and other games than rpgs. I wonder, does anyone know of a similar clustering of developers like the estimable Mr. Edwards et al. who focus on euro or other types of games?

Best,

Well, there is Boardy Games (http://boardy-games.com/forums/), even if it doesn't have a lot of cultural weight behind it.

Thanks, Eero!

(P.S., should I pronounce your name as Zero without the z, or era with an 'o' in place of the 'a'?)

It's more of the latter, I think. My exact instructions for Americans tend to refer to Latin - find out how you pronounce "ee" and "o" in Latin, and pronounce my name the same way. Finnish ortography in general is all but identical with classical Latin, so if you can pronounce the latter, you can also do Finnish.

(native American-English speaker's version)

"Ayyy-hro." Strong syllable emphasis. Get the y's in there (that's what the second "e" is for). Don't swallow or short the second syllable.

It sort of does come out like "era" with an "o," but the word era is very soft in comparison.

Hey,

I know that the board game designers forum (http://www.bgdf.com/) used to be quite active and fruitful.  I haven't frequented it of late, so I can't speak for its current culture or activity.

Cheers,
Darcy

Thanks very much, gentlemen.

My couple of years of Latin has shown its worth once more.
