Title: PBeM?
Post by: Calithena on January 06, 2004, 01:44:30 PM
Has anyone tried Burning Wheel for PBeM play?

The thing that makes me think it might be a cut above the norm is the 'combat scripting' approach, though I only understand this secondhand through reviews and conversation. I'll be able to judge this myself once my copy shows up (thanks for the update, Luke!) but I was wondering if anyone had thoughts or (better) experience with using this as a PBeM system.

I've run pbems, but not for BW.  The combat-scripting approach does seem to make it at least marginally better for pbem play, especially if you choose to insist that three volleys are ALWAYS scripted (which, in a pbem, you can do easier than on the tabletop - as soon as one volley is out, script up another volley), and I'd be interested to see it tried in a pbem (or play-by-post, which has the same pacing).

Unfortunately, my plate is already full, though.
