Portals Interactive Entertainment announces their first game, Sanctuary Portals. Sanctuary Portals is a 2D MMORPG, billed as a MMOCIG.The term is being coined to emphasize the focus on role-play and character immersion for the game.
P.I.E is a newly formed company who believes "imagination comes from people not programs" and are committed to "building a community where respect, trust and compassion is the norm, not the exception" .

The game is photo-realistic 2D isometric and features exhaustive crafting, combat, housing, and unique races. The game mechanics are all designed with creative and dynamic role-play in mind. Over three hundred pages of fictionally immersive racial history and culture are planned, along with player developed cities and governments.

The game is currently scheduled for alpha in March 2004 and beta in September 2004. The development team is actively encouraging input on the development project, and is committed to listening to the community. The development team is comprised solely of role-players, with years of project management, distributed system development, and 3D and 2D graphic experience. While this is their first commercial product, the team has been working on a non-commercial game as a team for the last two years.

Grab a coke, take a seat, the PIE is in the oven.
