Hi all !

Here is the game I wrote : //www.athala.org.
I tried to make this game with a design which try to reach what professionnal could do.
Except a few free domain drawings (from Violet Le Duc), all inside drawings are especillay made for the game. The game was created under Adobe Indesign software. Let me know your minds about it !

Hello,

Welcome to the Forge if it has not already been said. :)

I went to your site and looked it over. It's well organized and easy to navigate, though I found myself wishing for word descriptions of the nav buttons at the top so I didn't have to scan through them all to find the one I wanted each time. Great art. Very evocative.  I didn't download your game, so I'm sorry I can't comment on the rules and setting, but I have a couple comments about the site and some questions for you anyway. Hope this is useful!

Your site gives a clear indication about the genre and general type of game (setting rich, combat oriented game?) but what I looked for was more summary information about the game and mechanics: a brief overview of the world and overarching back plot if any, what the rules system focuses play on: is your game about heroic battle between feuding clans? the exploits of individual heros in a wartorn and devastated backdrop? simple adventuring for fame and fortune? or is it an exploration into macchiavelian inter-house politics on which hang the fortunes of all?  Well, you get my point.

A brief summary here would be helpful for folks to know how to respond to your question too.  Are there any specific aspects of your game that you are looking for feedback on? Are you thinking about publishing it for pay? Posting in Actual play is a good way to get feedback as well, since describing an instance of play can communicate a lot about a system.

Again, I haven't read the game so I can't speak about your system per se, but you might want to take a look at this thread (especially starting here, for an idea about the kinds of questions here may ask you about it, and perspectives on roleplaying that are common here.

Best of luck with it!

Hello Emily,

Thank you very much for your comments. I will take a close look on each point you submit me and see how I can answer them on the site.

About the feedback I am waiting for here, well as I don't know the English FRPG fellowship, I just want to know if Athala can find his own place here or no. No I don't want to sell this game, one of his point is to be for free.

Also, as I am note an English native there is a lot of mistakes inside the game (I  translated myself) so if there's somebody who gots time &  couragous enough, any help to edit the game will be fine ! :)

Thank you, regards,

Hi, Clarn.

I couldn't see an example or transcript of an ideal play session of Advanced Athala (AA) in English. I'd like to see what a typical play session is like before trying it out with my group. Is there one?

Advanced Athala has game units written in old Imperial units, like feet and inches for character height and ranged weapon ranges, and pounds and ounces for weight of equipment, yet AA has modern units for other things, for example, the Cold Resistance of a Nelong Man is -20 degrees Celcius. Why is the difference in the type of units?

Also, I noticed that AA looks a lot like Iron Crown Enterprise's (ICE) Middle Earth Role Playing (MERP). Is AA better than ICE's MERP? My friends GM and play a lot of ICE RoleMaster and MERPs games. What could I say to then, that might interest them in taking a look at AA, when they all ready have a pile of books from ICE?

On the AA website, there's this text:
QuoteAthala is a totally free fantasy role playing game. It has been created by a veteran pernickety game master and it want to be realistic, complete and simple. It's up to you, to say if he managed to do it !
In your view and in AA's context, what does "realistic" mean? What does "complete" mean? What does "simple" mean?

Thanks!
