click the link to Maternity in the Movies, for Friday the 28th of May.

A truly interesting discussion on the roles of mothers in various genres of film, as well as some thoughts on gender roles in general. Very Sex & Sorcery stuff, esp. in reference to "male" and "female" stories as they relate to our society and gender expectations.

Why is it women can only take on traditionally male roles (violence, revenge, protectiveness, etc) when their children/families are at stake?

There's lots more to this discussion but I'm not goint to recreate it here. Just go listen to it. Gretchen always puts on a good show.

Fucking real media! AAARRRRGH!!!!! My anality will not permit me to install RealPlayer.

I poked around, but couldn't find a transcript. Did I miss it?

I looked, and apparently Odyssey doesn't keep transcripts, but you can order a CD of the show if you're so inclined. Sorry about your technical issues =/

Thanks for the tip. I may just pick that up.
