Your first mini-supplement

Hi,

 So last night we were disucssing old TV shows (as gamers often do) and I was reminded that Battlestar Galactica was really just "MORMONS IN SPAAAAACE!".

 And then of course I started thinking about "Dogs in the Colony Ships".

 Obviously, Starbuck has to be a Dog.  He's a drinking, smoking, womanizing troublemaker -- but he's the best darn Cylon (demon) killer in the fleet.

There's more possibility for this than you think, actually, tho as a different game, methinks. Because under Mormon theology, if you're really, really good, when you die, you get to be God over your own world. (Someone can correct me if they like, but I believe that's correct in a very thumbnail way.)

A space opera game based on this would be very interesting. Certainly it would explain all those humanoid aliens -- I imagine a lot of these new "mini-Gods" stick to what they know, in a sense...

The doctrine is that if you perform the correct rituals, by people with the authority to do so, and if you don't break the covenants you agree to at baptism and elsewhere, you will become a full heir to exaltation, alongside Jesus. This includes a destiny of creating worlds without end.


Now, here's where my own thoughts come in: I don't think it's one god per world. I think it's all the gods of a particular generation of deity, lead by whoever was the Savior for that particular generation, meeting in council to discuss the creation of worlds. The ancient proto-Hebrew term 'Elohim' means "the gods, plural", although we use it as a name for God the Father, these days.

Hey, that sounds wonderful :) Does that count for people who didn't know about this until a late age, like myself? I mean, alongside Jesus, that's not bad at all.

Well, there's this story that Jesus tells in the Bible, where a man hired some servants to watch his vineyard. They weren't enough, so he continued hiring throughout the day. The last guys were hired right before nightfall.

The Good Master paid all his faithful servants the same wage, no matter how late-come they were to his service.

So, yeah, I'd say it applies to the latecomers:)

Heck, those rituals I mentioned? We perform all of them for the dead through proxies. Our job is to give _everyone_ a chance to become joint-heirs with Christ.
