Cut-down versions of games on Bookshelf

Hi,

I recently noticed that "Run Robot Red" has been added to the Forge bookshelf, and went to look at the accompanying web site.

However, I found that the Bookshelf version is in fact inferior to the print version - it has half the page count, and the website encourages readers to "upgrade" to the print version from the PDF; that the PDF should only be used to "see if you like it".

Could cases like these, where the Bookshelf holds a cut-down version of a game, have an explicit indicator of such (eg, "Run Robot Red (Trial Version)") on the Bookshelf page?

Hyphz,

The Forge Bookshelf is a service I provide, and I do not exercise any editorial license over the games, or the ad text on the site.

Now, from a personal standpoint, I agree with you that the current text should include a notice, and will contact the author. However, since you are the customer, the real message is strongest coming from you.

Hello,

The version of RRR on the Bookshelf should be identical to the print version. Please contact me at john@wicked-dead.com so we can sort your problem out.

I have not actually purchased RRR; I presumed it was a cut-down version based on your web site.  (I am posting this publically rather than via private e-mail because, since I may have posted erroneous information publically in the top post, I should also correct myself publically)

The web site led me to presume it was a cut-down version because the listed page count is half that of the print version, and the language used in selling the PDF version ("take a low-risk look", "if you like what you see, upgrade") implied that its only value was in evaluating the game prior to purchase.  It appears I've gotten confused by this.

Yeah, what happens when you download the .pdf is that the book is exactly 1/2 the size because the .pdf is 2 pages on one page.

The book contains all the same information, all the same art, etc. Just half the size. :)
