Hello, this is my first post so I will keep it simple. I hope I chose the most appropriate place to post this... Anyway, I was hoping that I may be able to get some recommendations for games that fit my interests. I am looking for something that is, most importantly surreal, postmodern and strange. I tend to lean toward kind of narrativist or simulationist gaming and mood and setting are intensely important to me so... what am I missing? I would really appreciate any suggestions. Thanks.

Hey! I'm truthfully not sure if this is the right place to post this either, but I'll respond until Ron moves it I guess.

when you say "surreal" and "strange", what do you mean?
Technology could be considered "strange" and is often perceived as "surreal", for example.
Or do you specifically mean "magic" and "psionics" and the like?

I have one suggestion, but I don't know if its what you're looking for.
I'm currently reading through Sufficiently Advanced. It is "about" technology, but it addresses that once technology is "sufficently advanced" it becomes just like another form of magic to most people.

There's a link from that thread to the game. That'd be my reccomendation, if you aren't explicitly looking for something with magic, etc.

Welcome to the Forge! What's your name? I'm Adam.

In order for us to make recommendations, we'll have to read about actual sessions of game play that you liked. I encourage you thusly: hie thee yonder to the Actual Play forum, post there telling everyone about the most fun gaming session you ever played -- make sure to explain just what made it so fun! -- and ask this question again.

(Perhaps a mod could nudge this thread over to Actual Play...?)

Hello,

Adam's right. Hrimnir, this thread may continue only if you post about any of your actual experiences with role-playing.

Best,
Ron
