Hi Everyone,

This is my first excursion into the forums of the Forge. I had the pleasure of meeting a great deal of the lead Indie publishers at GenCon and per my promise, I am getting involved.

As best as I can anyway.

For those of you who do not know me, I'm a designer, writer, and art director in the industry. I've been working since 1996 and I presently work for five different game-related publishing companies on a part-time basis. Plus freelance.

I also work in advertising for a day job.

Whew.

If you don't know who I am, that's fine. My credits are on penandpaper and I've won three different awards in gaming. So. Perhaps I have something to offer, but I am by no means the smartest person in the industry, either.

I hopefully can offer some publishing insight, graphic advice, logo assistance, illustration help (I know people), and some general pointers about what and what NOT to do (using a transparency in Adobe Illustrator for instance).

I presently have about 5 differenet Indie-related projects in development, so expect me to post something by the end of the year, but I'll be swamped for a while with other gigs... not that anyone cares about that.

Geesh. Does this guy shut up?

Feel free to e-mail me anytime.

Hi Jim,

Welcome to the Forge!

All of the forums here have concrete purposes. This one concerns notions and inquiries about games in the first stages of development. For a discussion to happen here, you need to post something about one of those designs you mentioned, with something specific that you'd like to talk about.

The alternative, sadly, is for me to close the thread and even (if I feel like it, on a bad day) popping it to an inactive-file forum, because "hi I'm Jim" posting isn't necessary here and takes up needed space.

I'm not going to do that because it's a good day and I'd much rather see what you have brewing. So anything at all, doesn't matter how small or undeveloped, as long as there's something you'd like to present, inquire about, or garner inquiries about.

Best, Ron

Sorry for the faux pas, Ron.

I'm new here.

Er.

Um...

Uh. But you already knew that.

I actually posted on a new thread (George's Children).

Delete this one if you like.

Where do you suggest I offer publishing advice?

Hi Jim,

Check out the rules for the site in the sticky at the top of the Site Discussion. I suggest as well that there's no need for apologies when I'm moderating. It'd be like apologizing to the cop who's helping you out of the ditch. You didn't hurt him, he's just helping you out of the ditch.

For publishing discussions (and I suggest browsing a little before offering advice), the Publishing forum is the place to be.

Here's another Forge-ish thing. When I say "this thread's closed," it means that no one posts to it again. At all. Not even to say "thanks" or "bye" or whatever, and especially not to get in that last precious thought that seems so absolutely necessary. So, this one's closed.

Best, Ron
