A rather intriguing item, though I think it would be of far more interest (and fun) to base the "treasure" the item seeks on the wielder.

You're playing an intellectual? Well, the gold behind the secret door 5 feet away from you doesn't get set off, but the Library a 5 miles away does!

How about a warrior character? It could point you in the direction of a very powerful being/person who has similar ideals to your own (and thus a great treasure!)

It could also, of course, find the standard treasures as well, but it doesn't find things based on distance (the exception being it's range), but rather based on importance to the wielder. Anyway, that's my idea...

Question for ya: you mentioned that the Wand was originally meant to be a trick, but it "failed" and actually worked as it should have if it wasn't a trick... How did Cujonos actually intend for it to work? Just got me curious...

Anyway, thought I'd throw that out and see what people thought...

You have some cool ideas. Wished I thought of those...

I figure Cujonos meant the wand to be a trick. Frankly, I had not developed it further, but my general impression was like the "wish" spell of old - sure, you get treasure but there is always a string attached.

Unfortunately, the wand worked right - it actually will find you treasure, although there still can be strings attached.

Any other ideas?

I know now that I should try to develop those little generic items out a bit more.

Thanx,
Nathan
