Well, the grand debut of HeartQuest wass what most indie puiblishers would describe as moderately successful. I sold 38 copies of the game at my first convention and gave out about 25 more to various publishers, contests and reviewers. Six were consigned to the shop that trundled the games over to me and six more will be consigned to a local Portland store. To my surprise Grey Ghost Games took my remaining 85 copies off my hands to be sold through them at Wizard's Attic as a favor to me that I did not ask for or expect.

Although I didn't make a boatload of money, I had a moderately successful launch according to the people on the scene. I haven;t told anyone at the GPA yet, and I'm not sure if I should given my reocrd on their mailing list. But at least I sold some.

Strangest story. I'd been wondering about all those buff buysd at the con who can;t stand "girly-man games". A big, burly guy walked up to my booth. He said only two words. "How much?" I said "20 dollars". He gave me twenty dollars, so I gave him a game. That was the end of it.

Of coursed, I also made some good deals at the con. Next year, though, I want to be at the Forge booth. You guys had a lot more fun and did a lot better.

Dude - 38 sold, and 85 more taken into the distributor chain. You had an awesome GenCon, especially with your first game. Congratulations!

Ditto what Clinton said, man.

Also, HeartQuest is a very good product. Nicely written, well illustrated, and three very cool takes on the shoujo genre included.

Well done, Michael!

Thanks for the compliments. It will get even better, with expansions on the existing campaigns, new campaigns, and the upcoming HeartQuest Online supplement with bundled software!

I would have to agree that you had a very good GEN CON.  Congratulations.

For the record, as the guy that tallied the numbers and paid the masses, you sold as many as the most of us more or less, and gave out a lot more, not to mention your new wiz. attic connection.

Pat yerself on the back.

Hi there,

I was especially impressed by the game itself. Michael's only one of the writers, but throughout the whole thing, it's exceptionally clearly written. It really nails the sensitive elements of the genre so that you'd really like to get to them in play - including the more difficult ones like girl-on-girl crushes, written in such a way that it's really pretty poignant and not covert-pervert at all.

I have high hopes for HeartQuest. It seems like a much more honest and inspiring approach than simply licensing Sailor Moon and slamming it out there as a crossover.

Best,
Ron

It so happens that the Paypal situation has finally been taken care of. We can now take individual orders for HeartQuest online through http://www.seraphimguard.com/hq.html.

If you didn;t get your copy at GenCon, here's your chance.
