Strange game dynamic forming...

Victory conditions, points or "tricks", to continue the card game analogy, might be useful to goad recalcitrant or uninspired players into assuming GM authority.   Carrot and stick and all that.  Something like the points you get in Inspectres perhaps. Are they franchise dice?

Andrew: I'm interested in hearing about your mechanics to distribute GM powers. Have you posted about it elsewhere? And if not, would you be tempted to so that this thread does not get derailed?

Presently the system--integrated into a test game I am calling "Revenge of the Crypt Fiend", a Halloween Horror game-- is meant more for interactive table top play than it is for pure straight up storytelling.  Though the underlying premise could be applied that way.  (Actually it does allow for some narrative direction/redirection at present.)

However "Trumping" (or on the GMs part "Tricking") is a temporary method to not only get players involved, but to also develop the narrative.  At least as I have it described thus far.

Of course just because a person can Trump doesn't mean they should, could, or even will have the points to try.  Then again I am working on that.  The rules are coming along, if taking too long.  (I miss the sweet fun loving Pixies! <sniffle>)

The basic premise has undergone some revision and much expansion.  But, yes, you sort of hit the nail on the head.  I am trying to design the system in such a way there wont be any players who feel left out.  Even the silent ones who seem content to just sit there.  Everyone will be involved, or at least be able to involve themselves as much into the game, and shaping its outcome, as they want.


What?  Curious about this "Revenge of the Crypt Fiend"  game you've only just heard me mentioning?  ;)

It's a Halloween Horror game, or maybe a Horror game for Hallowen would be a better description since the characters are Vampires, Specters, and the like...

On the bright side players in "Revenge" will get to roll on a Wandering Monster chart for their characters.  Something which older gamers should get a kick out of, if no one else.  :)
