Hey all, going to host a second Yukicon at my place, tentatively titled DOS YUKIOS.

It's going down on Sunday, October 2nd and will feature superstar gaming guests of honor, including:

Clinton R Nixon
Andy Kitkowski
Jason "How cool is my last name?" Morningstar
Yuki

Other possible guests:

Jeff Schecter
You
Your friend

There will be lots of gaming and fun.  Bring some cash for food (dinner will be bought locally).  Event will begin 11AM, last until approx 8-9PM or thereabouts.

All are invited. There will be multiple rooms of gaming, a dealer's hall, and other gaming events including gaming discussion panels and the like. The registration price is "some snacks".

The venue is in Cary, NC, right between Raleigh and Durham.

If you think you can come, send me a PM for exact directions, and chime in this thread!

I think chiming might just be verboten in the Conventions Forum.  Check Ron's sticky up top.

I think all of us that might be able to make it are interested, but what I'd really like to know is who's planning to play what?  Which indie games will be being run by their creators and such?  Will there be a method for gaining dibs on a seat at a certain game (assuming that games are being scheduled) such as emailing someone in charge of organizing such things?

Mostly I ask because an Apartment Con kinda implies large-scale hanging out while what you've got here seems to imply something a bit more organized.

Quote1. You are attending a convention and plan to play one or more independent games. You might be seeking some support or promotional material from the authors, or you might be seeking some help from potential fellow players.[/qoute]

Ummm. I'll go with This One.  :-)

I'm looking for help from potential fellow players, to show up and play various indie games.

Yeah, what we usually do is:

1) Have everyone prepared to run at least one game.  That way, there's no time wasted. Even if you're not able to prepare a game, chances are that everyone around you will have something ready.

2) Get together in the AM. Make a huge chart of what people can run that day.
2a) People start chiming in with what they REALLY want to play, and what they'd REALLY want to run.
2b) If needed, a warmup group game is played, otherwise people split into two groups, play a session for about 2-3 hours, then regroup.

In all, this is just as much a call for potential players as it is a call for people to attend and run games. Let's organize!

All in all, it's looking good.

YukiCon is da bomb. Don't miss it. I flew all the way from MA for it last time, had a blast.

I'm actually too cool for my last name.

Don't worry, Eric, Yuki Con was very focused for maximum Game and minimum Lame.  Dos Yukios will be as well, of that you can be sure.  One note - we didn't really finish anything, but drank deep from the cup of indie.  Actually, we finished BtI.

Hi gang,

I'll very probably be there. Like, 90%+ probably... I'm out of town for school stuff the day before, which might cause some problems, but won't if I can help it. On the plus side, I've got my New, Improved, Unlimited North Carolina Drivers' License, which means that I don't have to start franticly checking my watch at around 8:00 and leave by 8:30.

Which means more time to bask in the glory of Jason's last name.

To bring this back on track, what can we do to help out, Andy?  Should we be inviting likely suspects?  Are you going to have enough room to host a zillion people?  Where will the vendors go if we need the Manaco Room for gaming?

Andy Kitkowski

Good questions, here's what I'm looking at:

1) Be prepared to run at least ONE game.  That's the requirements for "getting in the door". Even if you don't get called upon to do so.

2) Please PM me with the number of guests that you'd like to invite, or if you would like to come yourself.  I figure we can house up to approx 10 people (4 of which are accounted for, and possibly 2-3 others). As long as I have PMs from folk, I can make adjustments and the like, and can even "close the doors" if needed. So feel free to recruit folks (I'd say "a few at a time", with "Forgites get priority because of limited space"<--- This will change by "YUKICON TREI: VNIMANYE YUKI!", if we find a new venue), and PM me as you invite folks.

3) If we have enough designer-whores, I'm seriously thinking about turning one of the "gaming sessions"/"dinner slots" into either:
A) A group discussion on game design, or
B) A bad, but fun, idea of designing a simple game together as a group.

The important thing at this point is finding interested folks, so if you can read this, and you're here on the Forge, please post here or PM me.  If you want to bring folks or recruit, please hit me straight up with a PM.

Thanks!
