Heya all, I just got this from Justin, who heads up relations for the Toronto Game Expo. I've done this a couple of years now and while it isn't the best gaming con (its much, much more focused on Anime and Comics) its prices can't be beat, and it gets you some exposure in Toronto.

Here is the missive:

Hello!

I'm the gaming coordinator for the Canadian National Gaming Nexus, or GX. GX is held annually as part of FanExpo Canada in Toronto, Ontario. The Expo is being held this year in the Metro Toronto Convention Centre from August 24-26.

FanExpo is the largest media and hobby event in Canada, and is the third largest in North America. This year's forecast attendance is 50,000 people.

I would like, at this moment, to invite you all, as respected RPG industry professionals, to attend GX as guests. You'd be provided with a Guest pass (and one for your spouse/partner/friend as well if you'd like) and a booth in the artists alley/small press area. You can also do panels on writing, drawing, or publishing, whatever your area of expertise may be, or run a gaming session or demo for your game.

While there, you can also enjoy the show's many attractions, buy games or comics, play in video game tournaments, watch Anime, enjoy the Masquerade, or get autographs from some of the show's other guests; you can also enjoy the fun that Toronto has to offer. The MTCC is literally steps away from Toronto's theatre district, the Canadian National Exhibition, and Lake Ontario Place.  Toronto is also home to the Royal Ontario Museum, the Ontario Science Centre, and Canada's Wonderland.

For info on the show, you can visit http://www.canadiannationalexpo.com

If you're interested, please contact me at Justin@Hobbystar.com.

Thanks!

If you've questions you can, obviously, contact Justin. If you have questions about what the experience is like or if it'd work for you, you can ask me and I'll answer as best as I can.

So, to make this clear in accordance with the new forum guidelines -- I will be at the Game Expo this year. I will be doing something with some of the various games folks from around these parts have published, and probably with Indie Games Toronto. If anyone else would like to join me to do so, then the above stuff is the links to info about the con (which many of you probably don't know about), and you can use this thread to coordinate with me.

Sorry if that wasn't clear.

How very presuptuous of you ... and how very correct.

This year I would like to push games that either eliminate or modify the GM role.

That said, I also want some games that someone might have heard of.

So what would I like to see?

Agon
DitV
(OK these aren't so radical in GM treatment)
Polaris
CAPES (I'll run it this time, Hans)
Universalis
... um ... my mind is blanking...
oh yeah, Mo's game

Crime and Punishment may be out in ashcan by that point, so it would work. Capes would certainly work. And Polaris I love.

I'd also consider Beast Hunters, even if it doesn't modify the GM's roll in the same way, because of its focus on one-on-one play.

Anyway, some of this I'll be posting to the Indie group mailing list soon. The play part of it shouldn't be too hard to set up, but if we want to do some sales in addition that will require some coordination. I'll have my own table, but I obviously won't have stacks of other people's books to move. (Not that the Expo is a place for high-volume RPG sales anyway. But having some small amount of product would probably not be a bad idea.)

OK Brand.

If you could solicit games from IndieRPG members and talk to the Hobbystar people that would be great.

I can schedule on the meetup.com board and forward emails but I am entering year-end mayhem at school and don't really have the brain power to stay on track of anything else.

Plus, the concussion doesn't help.

Could we try something like speed demos in a morning session and then take votes on evening games.
