I'm sure you guys get this all the time, but:

I'm working on a sci-fi rpg that I'm planning on releasing for free, but I'd like it to look as nice as possible. So with that in mind...

So where's a good place to get a good PDF program, for free?

Also, does anyone know a place to find good, free art?

Thanks.

This one works for me, but it might depend on your system whether it works for you.

As to art, I found some artists on here in the resource library, who were able to do some stuff within my limited budget. There may be some prepared to work for free, especially if they are new to the rpg artworld.

Otherwise, I have had little success at finding good free art, but I suppose it depends what you are after.

You might go to RPGNOW and check out some of their STOCK ART pdfs as there are some that are only $5 or so (Ronin Arts, SCi Fi Clip Art for example) for 27 or so pieces.

Hope this helps

Also, if you go to download.com ande search for "pdf" they have a bunch of free pdf utilities.

[edit] Those threads also talk about layout programs and art, which should be helpful.[/edit]

http://download.openoffice.org/index.html

OpenOffice works a lot like most office suites, but can save to very attractive PDFs. It does not include some PDF options that you can get with a pay software (like active hyperlinks), though.
