Funny you should confess .. I just finished closely reading that link Negilent mentioned (which, BTW, N: you're totally right about Avoid downgrading Sprint to Trot); you can kind of read, there, the direction you're taking.

Very cool, though. It is ironic that I should arrive at some level of facility with the pace count method as you work to replace it. But vs. tests of Speed are more mechanically consistent with other parts of BW. And there's a long tradition of resolving movement as a precedent to martial action in wargames, so you'll be playing to the crowd:)

What you've got now is functional. It sounds like, though, that your new direction will increase mechanical unity and lower the learning curve.
