I've been thinking about this game idea for a while, and after talking it over with a friend I have a suggestion.

Instead of a single goal for each protagonist to reach in the short time they have left in this world, why not three? They could be strung together, and it would probably better suit the feel the game is (as I interpret) trying to achieve.

For instance, before I die I would like to:
1. Patch up a falling-out with a childhood friend.
2. Tell my boss what I really think of him.
3. Have a perfect romantic moment with my significant other.

The dice-bidding mechanic would work the same for each three, but the Passion and Peace attributes would change after each goal according to the outcome.
After a goal had been successfully accomplished, Peace would rise by one, Passion would decrease accordingly. In converse, if a pre-mortem goal could not be reached, the determination to resolve the next on the list would be heightened.

Hello,

The above was split from Death's Door: summary and mechanics questions.

Gurnard, please review the posting standards at the Forge in the sticky threads at the top of the Site Discussion forum, especially about reviving older threads.

Best,

Hi Gurnard,

That is how the game has worked from day one.  Each protagonist gets three goals assigned, and resolves 1 per turn/evening. (Depending on if it's being played out in 1 night or over three nights.)

For the curious, Death's Door is somewhere between layout and printing, and will be out for Gen Con.  Hope to see folks there!

thanks,

I write games. My games don't have much in common with each other, except that I wrote them.
