Author Topic: Single-player mystery RPGs?  (Read 846 times)

Hi,

Apologies if it's a bad forum - please relocate this to the appropriate place if necessary.

I'm looking for single-person RPGs and adventures to run for my girlfriend. The ideal setting would have little combat and would emphasize exploration, puzzle and problem solving and character interactions. Some kind of mystery/intrigue or detective game is best.

I have a few ADnD campaigns, but I would like to explore what else is available.

Thanks a lot!

I don't know if your girl friend is much of a gamer - sounds like no.

I think she might like to play a Matrix Game. I run Sherlock Holmes murder mysteries using them. They are pretty easy and women have played and liked them.

In these games you have a character (like in standard RPGs) but each turn you make up a statement/argument about what you want to have happen next in the game. In murder mysteries the players create the clues that then point to who done it. I've done these for years as solo games so I know they'll work for a two player game.

You can check out the rules on my web page http://www.io.com/~hamster If you email me off list I'll send you a sample game (one of my old books that are now superceeded.)
