A new RPG

So now that you have wizards in mind, flesh out who they are, what they are capable of, and why they are in a constant state of war before moving on to hardcore game mechanics.
Is this a game a group can get together and play start to finish in one evening, say 4-6 hours? Will each player have their own wizard or wizards? If not, what can be done to make sure the game appeals to players- how much power will they have to affect the world via their characters.

I will look up some stuff about the Epiphany game. Thanks. Yes. I want to be able to get a group together for 4-6 hours and play. The players will control a wizard or other character. I dont wanna have many other "secondary characters" though. mainly wizards.
Well that is all for now.
OH yeah. LOL. The wizards should have a major effect on the planet(???) or place they are at ...they also need to counteract each others devastating, healing, or rejuvinating effects.
Laurel: I already told you all why they are fighting. Just look back a couple posts.....about 4-6 posts back should tell u.
Gotta run.

Heya Brad. It tells me they are fighting to aquire land, treasure, and sect domination. What I was asking is
why
are the wizards at war for these things? Have they always been at war? How did it start- what was the catalyst? What happens to wizards who refuse to fight: are they enslaved or killed by the warmongers to remove them from the playing field any way? If so,is it going to be clear that martial wizards and thier martial sidekicks/cohorts is the only viable play option?

Well. They are fighting because the band of rouge wizards were part of the good sect at one time. I believe I did mention that in the other post. But if I didn't, I am sorry! :-) They broke away and stole the treasure while doing so. They are fighting to bring the sect back, regain the sacred treasure, and have control over the world once again. Or continent or country? Which do you guys think is the best? I will have the other sect enslaving the people of their newly acquired territory, which they got by basically annexing a vast region. They terrorize the people around the region and enslave some. That kind of "fluff" will allow for other characters to be introduced because of the pain and suffering they have suffered from the other sect or from loved ones suffering.

TORN BETWEEN TWO IDEAS.

I am kinda getting torn up at the idea of making a Super Hero RPG also. I am gonna ponder this idea for a little while also. The fantasy wizards idea is gonna still be up in the air. Also an RPG about space ship combat sounds appealing to me. I dont have any background on either of the new ideas yet though...the more I think about it the more I want to do that space ship combat game. There could be rules for boarding ships. Your role as the PC could be to fight with your ship and board the other ship, loot it and fight your way out. LOL...my mind is boggled. :-)

This thread is getting a bit stale so I am gonna start a new one with some more organized ideas. I think that is one of the reasons it is so stale.
